Several Rapid Creek Landcare Group members took part in the Hydrology/Erosion Workshop on Rapid Creek held at the Novotel Darwin Airport on 5 February. The lectures and field trips were led by Lance Mudgway and Henry Burt of Mulloon Consulting. Participants commented that the main take-away lesson from the day was to slow down water flow. This can be achieved by building gabions at intervals across the bed of a waterway. It was recommended that the Marrara Detention Basin be re-designed to empty more slowly than the current 24 hours. One field trip was to an extensive erosion channel accessed from Damabila Drive abutting the controversial Defence Housing Australia Lee Point development.
